Synopsis

In one moment Kylie’s life changes forever.  It’s the moment she touches someone’s hand and sees into their mind.  If that isn’t freaky enough, when she finally tells her dad what she can do, he makes her go to the police department and try to read the mind of a kidnapper.  The images Kylie sees are scary, but she is determined to help find the young girl who is on the verge of death.  Turns out that finding the girl leads Kylie to a whole group of people she never knew about- her family.  Secrets and danger surround Kylie as she struggles to accept her new found power, a new family and the fact that someone is trying to kill her.  Good thing she has wanna-be cop, Trip, to help her.

This book was so engaging.  I just zoomed through the pages and got so caught up in the story that I sometimes forgot to take notes!  Kylie has a sense of humor that runs on the sarcastic side which kept me snickering to myself.  Even though the story had some more serious moments, it never really lost it’s light feeling.  Here is my favorite quote from the book.  “Don’t we all have something we’re just not willing to share?  Some part of ourselves too fragile and sacred to expose?  Life’s hard.  Much harder than I realized but I’m going to keep trying to do the right thing.”  This book is labeled YA which is 15-25.  Due to the sexual content in this book, caution may be needed for the younger end of this age group.
