The-Best-Worst-Halloween-Ever

Ratings Explanation

Violence:  The Herdman family is known for bullying, setting fires and causing mischief.

Synopsis

Every year the kids at Woodrow Wilson Elementary can count on their Halloween being ruined by the 6 out-of-control Herdman kids.  Those Herdmans would spend Halloween hiding out and bullying the other kids into turning over all their candy, and then break windows, set fires and take anything not nailed down.  In order to keep things under control this year, the mayor at first decides to cancel Halloween.  But later, it is agreed that since the Herdmans won’t be attending, the school will host a Halloween carnival.  At first glance, the children of Woodrow Wilson Elementary are excited about their “Herdman-free” Halloween.  But then they realize that the school activity, although controlled and safe, will not include trick-or-treating or candy.  And what’s Halloween without candy?  Can it be possible that the Herdmans will come through and save Halloween for all the children?

If you are a fan of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” (book, movie or play) then you’ll also love this Halloween Sequel.   The Herdman kids are some of the most unforgettable characters in all of children’s literature.   It makes for a fun read-aloud book during October.  I’m not a fan of scary Halloween stories, but this is a perfect story for one and all to enjoy.
