Synopsis

America Singer is a 5.  On a caste system of 1-8 that is pretty near the bottom.  She and her family have to work hard to survive and life isn’t easy.  The Selection is an opportunity most girls dream of~ fancy ball gowns, glittering jewelry and a chance to be a princess.  Not for America Singer though.  The Selection is her worst nightmare because it would mean giving up her love, Aspen.  She doesn’t want to be in the competition and she doesn’t want the crown.  When America reaches the castle and meets the prince, her ideas and feelings begin to change and she realizes that perhaps the life she wants isn’t the one she has always dreamed about.  This is a YA book.

I fell in love with this book and America Singer.  America is a kind and gentle girl.  She cares about others and it shows in her actions as well as her words.  When she makes a mistake, she knows how to apologize.  The characters were well written and I felt connected and invested in each of them.  This is a light read with some more serious undertones.  I was completely involved in this book and enjoyed it very much.
